Got about 7-8 weeks in front and have made a good contact for prestige work a few weeks ago. Got three decent jobs lined up for next year too. If I get any enquiries I can't commit to Phil I'll pass them on to you mate.

From what I can tell it seems to be more about contacts and contracts these days more than waiting for the phone to ring from domestics who are all price-based.

The majority of my work comes from recommendation and I always get the job at the price I quote for. When I'm recommended I'm not normally having to price against anybody else either, which obviously makes life easier. I very rarely do any commercial work, 99% domestic, and had to turn away 2 bathrooms last week as they wanted them within next 4 weeks. Just couldn't fit them in.

Had a good start to the year and was fully booked from Jan to end of April. In May it started to slow down and June's been dreadful.

Have picked up a few decent Plumbing jobs and some tiling repairs in the last 2 weeks which have all been good money and paid the bills, but the diary for next week is empty. I'll be up on the High Street on Saturday morning handing out business cards if nothing comes in tomorrow....

very up and down but thats to be expected...no matter whether you are tiling, plastering, screeding whatever, its hard out there and its going to get harder so i just take each week as it comes...if i am breathing, i am happy :0)

Nicely under pressure here, and some big pads to come which are never far apart for me.
Two good houses to get tiled in the next month starting on monday.

kitchen splash with 2 windows 4 sockets and that included materials tiles where 100 x 100 porcs....

Wouldn't get out of bed for that, there are still plenty of people out there willing to pay the money for quality work. My current customer told me today that I wasn't the cheapest quote for his job but because I gave him the best advice he felt more confident using me. Next nearest quote was £5 metre cheaper on 170 metre job. And he's also given me his next three houses all same size. Thank god cos last year was pants for me.
