I disagree Paul.

Imo the perfect way would be fully tank the wall to floor, obviously tape the corner, fit the tray and Silicon, then apply butyl tape over lapping on to tray which will stick like you know what to the tray

Ok, see your point. So you are still taping down to the shower but painting the membrane beneath as well. Suppose it seems silly not to for the amount of membrane it will use, if for any reason the the tape/Silicon fails. Point taken onboard :)
