Hi,

I've just started out in the tiling business and just wondering if any of you have got any tips on how to get my name out there.

Any tips would be appreciated!

thanks

Cornish is spot on, nothing better than recommendations. I get most of my work from my local topps store and then that leads to more jobs. Been non stop for last 4 months with only 3 days off! Introduce yourself to builders, plumbers and joiners etc they will always need a tiler one day, and when they see your good work they will keep using you.

When I first started out I delivered my business card through doors, no time for that now. Networking is the key:grin:

Draw up a list of people/businesses/communities who communicate, and are likely to come into contact with people who need work.

I have dropped business cards into houses with removal vans outside now. Whilst the wife hides her head in shame I pop out, politely ask where the homeowner is. It doesn't matter whether they're moving out or moving in (preferably moving in) they still may need your services.

I go and introduce myself to the homeowner and have a card and perhaps a flyer telling them what I can do. I then politely suggest that if they're busy I don't want to take up their time now but would be happy to pop by at a later date to discuss any requirements they may have.

This way I often end up passing work onto other tradesmen when I can't do something that they want. But that doesn't matter I pass work on to those who reciprocate.

If you can get in with a local removal company, all the better.
