Discuss How to rectify, or just picky? in the Canada Tile Advice area at TilersForums.com.

Hello,

Sorry for another one of these threads, professionals might enjoy this.

Where would I start to rectify this? I'm going to try to hold my ground and say the entire install needs to be addressed, rather than just the shower trays.

Generally it's all a bit lippy, pinholing, grout gaps etc.

Is it possible that tiles are bowed enough to warrant such grout width changes?

Also, can they even attempt to retile on the existing fall tray?

Here we are;

This was as I am told by a long time professional who has done good work elsewhere.

Amusing!

Even I know that the drain should be level and grouted in, not set as it is.

The white marble room leaks, water bypasses the non existent fall, jumps the level access and then floods the room.

The irony is that the room was prepared well with wedi and a high quality tray.

Is there any benefit of the doubt to be had here? I would like it to be fixed, but I worry it's beyond that. I didn't think it was possible to refile a preformed tray?

Id be interested to see how they rectify just a few tiles in the tray. I would think if they set them correctly it wont be an easy feat to remove them without damaging it?

To be fair to them it must of taken a bit of skill to get that 4mm triangle of tile sitting right :)

Its such a shame rogue traders like this cant be named.

Looking at the drain trim level you can see some voids so I expect the whole thing is dot and dabbed, you can't even get the drain cover level because even at max extension it's still low the surrounding tiles are so high.

This is on a fairly expensive 12 home new build site, (yeah I know).

They are waiting on me to decide to let them attempt replacing some tiles in the tray with the existing layout or to just mosaic the tray only. I did originally instruct for a square cut fall !!

They didn't like my idea of ripping out the tray, and replacing with a single fall with linear drain in a more favourable position for the 600mm tiles.

Even though these are porcelain tiles, I should expect a more clean cut right? Shouldn't a wet cut and a stone achieve a much better edge that what's here?

Thanks for confirming I've not gone crazy and this is a professional finish.
