how to remove PVA from ply floor ?

got a floor job today , and the joiner has just let me no he has used PVA to seal the ply floor ???? any tips on how to remove it ? would sanding it off work ? thanks

if it's soaked in you won't sand it off. ply is not a good substrate to tile on anyway. i'd overlay 6mm hardi cement boards. that would solve it

Using cement boards is always
my option as well , not a lover of ply.

But if no option to overboard is there and correct ply thickness used then keying the surface to remove pva skin will be fine.

Don't we just hate the pva brigade

i was talking to a brickie (i used to work with him) a couple of days ago, he was telling me he is diversifying to tiling. he didn't have a clue, he still uses pva and was amazed with my sigma. he even came back the next day with 3 tiles (polished porc) from his house which he couldn't cut so i done them with ease on the sigma. i told him to come on here for tips and advice (and why not to use pva!!)

Had a conversation with a plumber yesterday, he asked what I was putting on the Walls ( pva is it he asked ). Err NO! I replied and then got in the conversation ad to why not.

Then he sparks up he does a bit tiling lol and wished he was around today to watch me to learn some tips :lol:

if we start plumbing and laying bricks etc. what will happen to the building trade? why can't tradesmen just stick to their own skill/trade? :mad2:

I have a pumber mate who does some of his own tiling. He pours pva into the mixing tub after mixing up some adhesive and mixes this in it instead of priming floor.:yikes:

He swears by this method and although he is a plumber (not a tiler) he wont listen when I tell him thats a load of pants
