Hey all. My first propa post up in here so here goes...lol

Got a bathroom to do with 600 x 300 ceramics being staggered standing upwards ie 600 up the wall and 300 across. I have 300 square ceramics for the floor. pretty straight forward room as pretty damn square thank god... right i have to set out so the floor will all be lined up with the walls.... As previously readin on here some 1 said 'no 2 tilers tile the same' which is damn true!!!
Question..... best way to set out???? would it be litterally wall centers an then a cross on floor from center tiles on opposing walls????
Thats the way that is in my head, hope u lot understand where im comin from...lol...
If that isnt the way u would set out what would u do???

My first propa post on this site and finding what im reading is good!!! Keep up the good work all!!!!!:hurray::hurray::hurray:

Hi davey....usual setting out ( centering etc) then as you say....

Some tile the floor forst them tie the walls in but it depends upon wall joint size....

I prefer the walls first then floor but like Isaid ...No 2 tilers work the same...what works for one might not for another....

You seem to have a picture in your head , so go for it...but lots of setting out first...

Daves.... cheers!!!!! to be honest its exactly what i thought and how i would/will work it.... so maybe this 'no 2 tilers work the same' is not foolproof..lol
She is after all tiles to be butted but i think ive persuaded her to have tiny grout joints, i usually use tiny brass pins as spacers to get the tiny grout line effect. does any 1 else use pins??? or any other suggestions for tiny grout lines????

Nice 1 for the speedy replies... i feel right at home now fellow tilers!!!!

For small grout lines, I use 1mm spacers from local independant tile shop, but you should be able to get anywhere...however, I wouldnt use anything smaller than a 3mm joint on the floor, which will muck up your wall / floor alignment - so you may need to convince customer on a bigger grout line. Butting them up is a no no because of expansion / contraction - they will crack. Therefore you are right to persuade her to have a grout line...just need to get her to like the idea of a bigger one!

I had the same to start today i did half a room before, this is my first full room, done alot of head scatching marked out the centers then moved them to suit the window there's also 2 returns in the room, thought i had it sorted so i done one wall from the batton and thought i would do the bottom cuts in the morning then the floor and follow the rest off that and thinking this was easy then remember the 2 returns hotpress and one at the door entrance i was going to have throw the floor off center as one of the returns had a small cut but i think to get out of it almost a full tile fits there as the other part of the small cut finnishs 100mm short of the wall creating a short cut down the wall across the floor and up the other side. Then another guy is removing old tiles from the foor, these tiles were layed straight onto the chipboard floor stuck fast
I wasn't for tiling onto that as the part of the board was coming away with the tile so
replaced the floor with me giving him a hand while tiling what a day:mad2: this tiling lark is easy :nonod:

Nice 1 for all ur replies and advice guys!!!!!!
Just 1 more question tho...... lol

I think i will do the wall tiles first then the floor as that is what i usually do and get on pretty well with it.
My question is..... is there a minimum grout line joint size for the floor as im tiling over the top of cement board with electric under floor heating??? again obviously i need to keep joints as close/small as poss to match up with walls.... just a thought that crossed my mind earlier...
obviously adhesive and grout will be flex but dont need to be going back to job for cracked floor grout lines... all help would be great....

Nice 1 guys!!!!!
