OK, I'm off!!! I've mixed my adhesive, cut my tiles and I've been merrily sticking them to the wall. Now I know why they sell tile spacers in such big pots....one for the wall, one lost forever behind the cooker, one for the wall, one behind the cooker. I've put some photos of today's effort in an album on here (obviously not grouted yet). Nearly done 1 wall!!!!

How does it look so far??

ah the trim...we ummed and ahhhed about it. the face of the tiles isn't smooth-it's bumpy like slate, so I couldn't figure out hoe to get any kind of 'stuck on' edging between the worktop and the tiles to seal properly on the tiles, so went for the black trim that you slip the tiles into. We were advised this too by the 'experts' in topps. You don't notice it too much in real life now it's up. Have got a silver trim to go on the top edge when I get the tiles high enough tomorrow.

the grout will be charcoal, which I think(hope) will pretty much match-ish.
Contemplated white, but think that'll look too 'busy' with the style of doors and tiles on the floor.

sounds like fun love personally im a straight foward tile and grout man dont get me wrong trim looks fantastic in the right places but as for grout colour two choices dark to keep it in toe or contrast it in something bright.

Ok, just wondered!

floor is a sort of creamy/terracotta-y ish laminate tile effect. (it's quite nice, not that that description did it any justice!!!!"

Sir Ramics avatar will give you an idea of what the white grout would look like, have you thought of a sandstone grout? Charcoal will look ok but it's very messy, you'll look like you've been up the chimney:grin:
Tiles look good by the way:thumbsup:

now that made me smile. if there's muck it'll stick to me! I think I'm magnetic! my decorating clothes reflect past colour choices and I ended up spending yesterday eve with a stripe of primer along my arm.
I've never been a chimney sweep, but i have bought the charcoal stuff now so maybe I should advertise myself as a good luck charm for weddings! I'm going to be covered in the stuff.

I did look at Sir Ramic's avatar thingy and I really like the white grout with the shiny tiles like on there, but we went for the dark grout as the tiles are slate things. I can always rake it out!!:whatchutalkingabout
