Went to a quote friday, the bloke is doing his whole house up. A shower room and a main bathroom needs tiling, 30m2 total. He has other tiling to do in the near future, so I thought I'd do him a deal.

Shower room, all porcelain, 2 walls and floor, adviced 2 part on floor as 24mm ply laid. 2 rows of porcelain mosaics. 450x450 tiles , all 10mm thick.

Bathroom, all to be tiles, 600x600 porcelain, all walls and floors to be grout lined, including 30 x 600 tiles to run centre of bath wall, on bath side, floor and final floor. 2 part again on floor.

As times are hard, I went in at £28 m2, working out around £800 or so, plus materials.

He called me today regarding by posted quote...........he went and bought the 2 part flexi himself from topps.......he said he felt he could'nt trust me, he said it cout him £100..............:mad2: And the spf was expensive, so he bought Bal grip.............:mad2: and he wanted it all done for £500..............:mad2:

I told him he was wasting my time and said my goodbyes.............he has tried to call me 4 times today.....................I love clients................:mad2::lol:

rant over................

Dispersion adhesive instead of cementious adhesive for porcelain... Customer knows best :mad2:

Either that or he took Topps advice, which isn't the best on the planet.

I think we're going to see more clients who think they can nail us from time to time as they know that some of us need work.

We just have to be firm and stick to our guns. There's one guy in our area that is undercutting all the tradesmen at the moment. I say, let hi get on with it, book himself up with cheap work then the rest of us who pass work to each other can go in at sensible prices.

He's given up now............he can get it done by some diy'er. I'm getting pretty fed up here in London with folks who think they can do things their way. On a serious nore, there are alot of ' general handymen' in my local paper................it is worrying to be honest.
pay peanuts they get a monkey...simple as that Fred.Keep your chin up m8,they will call you to fix the mistakes so dont worry:grin:
