Had a 1.3 CDTI corsa for 4+ years, goes well for the engine size,which is actually only 1256cc, regularly returns 60+ to the gallon when I was doing a 20 mile cross country commute. Might be a bit slower, less economical witht the bigger astra body.
With regard to your two purchases in proportion you are probably not doing so as a mate of mine than went out to buy a 13amp plug and came home with £800 worth of Bang and Olafson stereo - and that was over twenty years ago - his er in doors was not impressed.
