I can justify the road tax, but not the loss of fuel economy I'd end up with...

Apart from my vans, I've only driven landrovers for the last 18 years. I'd rather push a Landrover than drive any other 4x4.

I've got an older 110 defender 2.4d and get about 25mpg. My wife drives a discovery 4 which is a 3.0 td and we get about 30mpg in that. We had RangeRover Sport for about six months and we only 12mpg on average out of that so we got rid.

And that's what is stopping me from getting a Landrover full stop at the moment - I currently get 46mpg out of my corsa and I'd be lucky to get 30mpg out of a Disco. I do about 180 miles a week on £20 worth of diesel and I don't really want to have to start spending stupid money each week just to drive my car

I run one of those as my van - OK, it's the commercial version so no rear seats but... I do only pay standard van road tax and I get about 26-30mpg. I bought mine on ebay and it's been totally reliable up until this week ! Now I've got a split air line to the rear suspension. Luckily I'm working at home today so I've time to fix it later on !

They are very enjoyable trucks but don't expect stunning performance (though there are ways !). The basic truck will be very reliable but the frilly bits allways give trouble.

All my tiling tools fit in the back - nice flat load deck - and it'll tow a trailer or a boat all day, no worries.
