Just fitted a shower drain in a wetroom floor former made by dallmer, it includes a ball joint for easy installation.

Do you have to solvent weld the ball joint or is there a seal in it?

I did leak check it and it hasn't leaked however I'm getting to the point where I'm laying the membrane and sealing the drain in.

Thanks

No need to solvent weld the movable knuckle, it creates a seal by itself. Is it an Impey waste or Dalmer?

It's the old type impey drain utt01/h. Which uses the dallmer trap.

Thanks for the info 🙂

It's the same one as Paula has had all the trouble with, which is a bit frustrating. If I'd of known about the weep holes earlier, I'd have made sure to get the later one.

Almost wonder if it's worth drilling a few holes around the height setting ring after welding but before tiling.

I'd of changed it over for a newer type but I would really struggle to get to the solvent welded joint :-(

The trap you have is a DSS1 trap which is the old style, don't drill holes in it as its not designed to work that way, if there is water build up under the tiles it can get back through the rings.
be very aware when tiling up to this trap and pack a load of tile adhesive under the stainless plate and frame.
don't solvent the gimble joint as this will melt the rubber seal, ensure if you are using the reducer, to make sure the outlet(which is offset) is at its lowest point to avoid pressure on the rubber seal. do not use acid based silicon on this trap.
Cheers
Shunt.
