Have you noticed an increase in the popularity of wet rooms...?

Did you do many wet rooms compared to standard bathroom jobs..?

What tile type is most popular in the wet rooms you do.?

Over the last 3 years, yes!

Got my first coming up! Been asked about another in the new year.

What tile type is most popular in the wet rooms you do.?
Of the one's I have seen done properly, porcelain seems to be a popular choice.

Yes but a lot of client say its a wetroom but really its a glorified shower room

They are still a minority for me.

Travertine is popular around here

Similar to Neale, it seems to be walk in showers rather than a true wetroom. But, yes, a massive increase in interest and I seem to get a mixture of large format porcelain or stone with only a few opting for mosaics.

Big increase around here over the last couple of years and it's also something I suggest to the customer when quoting. Most of the ones I've done have been Large format porcelain with the odd stone and mosaic thrown in.

Mosaics are popular for the trays.. and then again some like the main field tile on the tray section.

I do think there is an increase in wet rooms, done more over the last year or so than at any other time

Defo an increase in wetroom jobs, and also getting asked my opinion on them much more than say 2 years ago. I find in my area that when floors and walls are tiled it's porcelain and stone (mainly trav), and when safety flooring is used the tiles seem to be ceramic on the walls for some reason .

still mainly conventional bathrooms/shower rooms round here, I get very few enquires about wetrooms which is a pity 'cos I really like doing them.

i'am half way thought the second one in my house!! the mr's is getting trav from cdt i think

done 8 wet rooms this year all full instalations

trav and porc, 2 enveloped trays rest where mosiacs

mostly wedi formers or marmox

tanked 2 for a mate the other week that where the pro4ma tray (nice former)

quoted a bespoke job for feb 2011 using the wedi moltoromo system (expensive but top gear)

about 30% of my installs are wet rooms

Becoming more popular in my area. The problem is not many know how to install them but a lot think they do.

This is my second in about 2 years.

The first customer really wanted one and I begrudginly took it on. It did my head in as there were loads of things that I had simply not done before. However, 2 years later and several uses by a gent in a wheelchair and 6 dogs in that time the customer has confirmed that no problems have arisen and they are still reaping the benefits. So I must have done something right.

In hindsight I'm very glad I did it.

The 2nd that I am doing now was my suggestion. The customer had the most poorly fitted shower room using a 1200 wide screen, 900 x 900 shower tray and nearly level pieces of 6mm ply tiled to make up the areas against a back wall that isn't straight. It leaked like a seive and ruined the timber floor beneath.

He likes the space so I suggested he considered a wet room. It is more money but it makes much better use of the room as the former can be cut to fit the awquared shape of the shower area. Then the tiles will be cut to suit.

We are considering a wet room for our conversion project. Should add heaps to the house value.

Other than that I'm not getting much call for them. Once I have got a couple under my belt I may tout that service a bit more. As I'm fairly new to them I'm still not making a huge amount of money from them.

I have to say, I'm unconvinced about installing them on wooden floors. I haven't yet bought into that school of thought.

its simple enough if you do it correctly in a step by step manner
