I think if the wrong adhesive was used, you would need to pull the lot up. Say if only20% of the tiles were covered with the wrong adhesive before, and you did manage to inject adhesives to cover the remaining 80% (which would be hard and time consuming!), you'd not have 100% coverage of the right adhesive still anyway?! Make sense?

One or two tiles will get grout filling small voids near the grout joints as you grout. That's acceptable I suppose.

But get the tiles up mate it'll save you a ball ache in the future.

Yep I guess you guys are right,,best do it properly.Sometimes its just hard telling the client there is no quick fix if they have been the victim of a dodgy tiler.

I understand what you're saying but you have to resist taking chances out of sympathy. If the tiles come up and refixed properly the client will be belatedly happy and grateful to you for sorting out the problem. If you take chances and it fails ( and it probably would) the client suffers much more stress and you're then the bad guy.

Sometimes you have to be cruel to be be kind.

It might be worth a conversation with either Bostik or Uzin - I can't remember which one I was talking to about this and they were developing a product which is designed specifically for this purpose. Not sure if it will be in the market place yet though but a phone call only costs a few pence and who knows.

My Father in law was doing some decorating for us last week - He drilled half a dozen holes in the wall and injected PVA to sort out some plaster that had blown.... I looked at him like he'd lost the plot but have to put my hands up and say its worked a treat.

I appreciate this is a different scenario and don't think I would ever advocate, or attempt, this with a tiles.... but maybe with the right adhesive there is an option there?
