I've got a conservatory floor to do in a few weeks and there is an inspection cover at one end. Can anyone recommend how I should deal with it, please?

How do I ensure that access can be gained, should it be necessary?
How do I raise it allowing for the tile and adhesive thickness?

Customer has purchased porcelain tiles (310 x 310) from Topps.

All help needed and appreciated - thanx!

If it's what I'm thinking an inset cover would suffice, Screed within the cover to a level that would accomodate for the thickness of the tile and adhesive, A lot of cutting. When fitting raising up pack out with screed, again to the tile and adhesive level. While your grouting wipe some vaseline within the gap of the cover to the lid to stop any muck getting in. Hope this help's and I hav'nt got the wrong end of the stick

Thanks Whitebeam,

I think I follow.

Dave, I'll try and see if I can get some pics, although, the chap has been in hospital with a knee op, so I'm not sure if he is back home yet.

Will post some more detail as soon as I get some.

Cheers.

take man hold cover out to grout then put back when dry. That way make sure nothing gets down it and dries it shut solid. Just set out like you would round a window or similar.

I think you should just set out as normal , seen as the inspection cover is at one end if the conservatory.
To set you tiles out evenly around the cover will un-balance the rest of the room.....the cover will work what it works.......obviously check that you are not gonna end up with stupid slither cuts but you just want it to try and blend in not make a feature out of it...........

The reason i said put up a pic is that there are a few types of covers and some are quite flimsy to tile too.......and some need a different lid.......

Thanks guys,

I will try and get some pics this weekend, if the fella is not in hospital yet.

I think I understand where you're coming from, but the inspection cover is flush with the newy laid screed, so are you suggesting that I, obviously, cut to the cover edges and tile as normal, but fill the "cover" grout lines with silicon rather than grout so that it can be easily removed, if necessary? What do I do about "handles" or do I ignore that issue???
