:hurray: Hi all

Thanks for welcoming me to the Tilersforum.

I am re-arranging my bathroom to accommodate an L-shaped showerbath and have built a stud wall to hide plumbing.

Following advice given in these forums, I will be using a cement based board on the stud walls but because it is 12mm thick the bath would fit better by being installed first and then tiling after.

Is this acceptable?

Regards, Baz

It could go either way cos there won't be any taps on bath. I am putting an Ixia thermostatic diverter valve and spout in false wall and a hand-shower on top of bath.

By the way, can you get someone to take off the "Recommended" on my post. I pressed the wrong button, sorry!

Many thanks for all your replies.

Now I know it is possible to install bath first, I have a couple of questions to ask:

1. Due to width restrictions, can I place bath up against batons and Aquapanel down to bath, ie panel on top of bath before tiling. This will only be on opposite side to showering area. On long side, I can Aquapanel ceiling to floor. On third side, ie shower area, I would like to panel on top of bath.

2. If this is possible, how do I seal bath to Aquapanel?

3. What adhesives etc would you recommend?

Regards, Baz

I always board (aquapanel/marmox or wedi down behind the bath, then stick the bath in and tile.)

If you really cant take the board behind the bath then make sure you put noggins along the bottom edge where it meets the bath so you have no movement of boarding and Silicon the board to the bath. not ideal but it will work.
