Insulation board fixing

Hi - I am a rookie tiling my conseravtory/kitchen starting tomorrow!

Am: 1) priming concrete
2) Laying insulation boards (cheap blue ones) with flexi addi
3) UFH instalation
4) SLC
5) Slate 40x40
6) Seal
7) Grout
8) Seal

When I am laying the boards I have read that I should use Silicon sealant on the edges of the boards and then over tape with a 'glass fibre tape'

I have duck tape only and no Silicon - Do I need an early morning trip to DIY store or can I just use Duck tape??

Use the fibre tape then use some of the adhesive over the tape into the joints

I have never read to Silicon between the joints but thinking about it, would it serve as an under tile movement joint?

You need Alkaline resistant mesh tape... they sell it in wickes and some tile shops..

Also if you have a wooden float handy..............to rub over the foam to remove air pockets and to ensure a good bond between foam and adhesive.

Don't need to prime concrete mate, just clean it properly with water or dilute primer 1:3 with water if surface dusty, on the joints I would use flexi adhesive with fiber glass mesh, don't waste Silicon for insulating boards joints, i would use SLC with fiber glass bits inside, try ''mira'' SLC good stuff

I paid £212 for 40 sheets of 1200x600x10mm

Cheaper than many but still seems a bit steep when it turns up and looks like dense foam packaging!!

Seems to have gone down alright though!
