With your help and advice I managed to tile the whole bathroom on my own (a year and a half ago!) but my son and I couldn't even get the screws in on a very complicated shower screen today. They are Pan Pozi screws - appear to be self tapping? - and I just didn't have the strength. So I thought happy days, that's what 22 year old sons are for but no - he couldn't get them in either.

It was expensive so I don't want to keep trying and possibly damage it but I don't know if it's a job for a joiner. Is it?

Last joiner I had was dreadful too - he did so much damage I paid him not to come back and finished the job myself.

Thanks guys.

rub the screw thread with soap that usually helps or phone joiner or plumber

I presume these are for going through the channel into the enclosure framework? Did you use the correct size bit for drilling the frame?

did you drill the fram ( 3mm drill) first

Plumber will be able to sort it out. You need to line up and drill 3mm holes into place and then drive the self tappers in if that's all that's wrong.

As people have said, 3mm HSS drill bit. Hand screw them in though, no matter how good a quality the enclosure is the screws are like chocolate if you try and drive them in with a drill/driver.

They all seem to have cheapo screws supplied that are not quite a PZ1 or PZ2 in size, which makes it really hard to get a good bite onto with the screwdriver!, I swear about it every time I do one!, call a Plumber (just not me!) :mad2:

Thanks folks - it's not for holes I've drilled - though that does come later in the assembly - what fun! It's for pre-existing holes to screw together the frame that goes round the glass doors. As I said it's not a simple one. Will have another go at weekend and if no joy I'll give my plumber a shout.

Ahhh i know what you mean. They're usually pretty simple though. You're assembling the frame itself??

Make sure the frame is laid/positioned square when attempting to do these. A long (300mm) pozi screwdriver and a rubber hammer would both make it easier to assemble.

Get a plumber to do it. He should have drill bits, Silicon and all the bits required in his van. Don't get a joiner, they don't belong in bathrooms except to pee.
