I was woken up by a loud gunshot type bang last night, closely followed by another about minute later. I woke hubby up and asked if he'd heard them too and he said no, obviously he'd slept through it. I then spent the next 20 minutes looking out of the windows seeing if I could see anything and moving from room to room listening for any water dripping. When I got back to bed and told hubby what I'd been doing, he said "you'd hear it if there was loads of water dripping" to which I replied, "not whilst you're snoring your head off I won't"

But in all seriousness, it did sound like a pipe had gone bang or something. Has anybody heard a water pipe go bang before and what did it sound like?

Have you ever heard of 'Exploding head syndrome' Liz? If not, google it, here is one of many links, but it sounds like that is what you may have experienced, and no, don't worry, it is not a sign of anything dangerous.. :) American Sleep Association
