Have you tried f2 on my laptop there is a ariel symbol, my kids sometimes turn it off by mistake and cant get wifi connection.

yeah, but's on f3 on mine mate (altho on my dell it's f2)

Check in device manager to see if the drivers are installed, most times you get to it by right click on my computer > properties > device manager, see if there are any yellow exclamation marks, if the are, try right clicking on the ite and follw the prompts, try installing drivers automatically, if there are no yellows then it 'must' be something else, like wifi not turned on as said above.

I did go into device manager before Alan, and noticed two yellow exclamatin marks by "network controller" and anther, will boot it up and have a gander again

sounds like you need to reinstall the drivers doug, whats the make and model of your laptop and i will try find them?
