Karndeen tiles on Hardibacker?

Customer I did a bathroom for wants to lay karneen tiles on the floor, These are not self adhesive.

Would I be OK screwing the 6mm hardibacker onto the floor, If so, should I use an Adhesive as well and if so, which one?

This is completely new to me.

imo..the screws will leave a hole and with Karendeen this is a no no.Dont know a lot about it but i will try and find out for youy and pm you today at some point.Im positive the floor has to be spot on for karandeen and free from holes,debrit etc.

My flooring guy does karndean CC, if you pm me ill give you his details and you could pick his brains- but it is a specialist thing! ive seen lots of them done and wouldnt want to tackle one myself!:45:

It will be ok if you apply a slc first.......

I'm wondering whether I really need to go for the Hardibacker or just stick with the 6mm ply.

I thought that the Hardibacker would be a direct replacement for the ply but after what some of you have said, it probably won't be.

TBH there is no real reason why I should choose hardibacker over ply. I just felt it would protect the floor, but Hardibacker isn't really waterproof.

Don't forget you need a different adhesive for bathrooms when using kardean....it needs to be able to handle the moisture.....my mate is a top installer of this type of flooring...if you need a number to contact to ask advice then ...phone Paul thompson flooring on.....01325 486766.....Anthea or paul will answer.....top company for kardean flooring....

I'm starting to wonder if there is an installer near me, so that he can come and do the job instead.

I would put him in touch with the client, but would be interested to learn from it.

6mm ply spot nailed down every 2 " feather edge joints in ply pressure sensitive adhesive is fine epoxy is recommended by karndean

It's starting to concern me that:

1) Not even time served tilers admit to putting this stuff down
2) Anthea from Paul Thompson Flooring has said that if I hadn't done it before I would be struggling.

I've spoken to a local guy about this, and, from what he's looking to charge I think I'll pass this one on.
