Keraflex Maxi and Light Travertine

Well I got my answer to the grout colour (Ultracolor Plus Jasmine it is - thanks to all !), now to the adhesive.

I'm thinking for my light\rustic travertine of using White Keraflex Maxi. I will have mixture of No More Ply and Durabase CI (with suitable expansion joints !) to lay on. The area the Durabase is being laid is initially in a sligth slope and I'm hoping to compensate for this by using the maxi version (3-15mm). The rustic tiles will also need a bit of buttering before laying.

Is my logic right here ? Is white what I should be using - and is Keraflex maxi an appropriate adhesive for this job ?

I guess , finally, I need to consider sealing it - what's the recommendation there - as far as I can see the main players are LTP Mattstone, Lithofin MN, the Topps tile stuff and maybe Seal-guard.

The LTP appears to be far cheaper than the Lithofin, but do you end up using more of it ?

The kera flex maxi is spot on..i have been using it quite a bit lately....


And the LTP mattstone is perfect...

Keraflex is lovely to use on floors.just dont walk on the tiles for a day or so.the longer off it the better.

Excellent !. One final question is the kerafelx suitable for bondng the Durabase CI to the screed,or should I be looking at using something else for this ?

Thanks for that advice. I could probably live with not having to walk on it for a day or two -, but I notice the spec says, light traffic '24 hrs', but 'ready to use' - 14 days ! The first bit I have to do is the kitchen area, and I would hope to be moving a range cooker on to it within a week.....

However, the whole kitchen area is on the nomoreply bit (on suspended wooden floor) - would I get away with using something like Keraquick on that, and the Keraflex Maxi on the screed\durabase bits ?

Is Keraquick (white) suitable for Travertine - particular in a pattern that has a large amount of large tiles (e.g. its 1x 600by400, 2x 400by400, 1x 400x200 & 2x 200by200) ? If so what kind of thickness should I use for it on the nomoreply (the less the better cos I have to raise the bits on the screed area to the same level.).

NOt sure I want to go down the route of using different ashesives all over the place. Not least the fact I've found a decent supplier who can sell me 25kg bags of the maxi at £15+vat - and only charge £16 for delivery of 14 bags from Kent to Scotland ! Their Ultracolor plus is also a bargain at £26+vat for a 23kg bag....

Keraquick is fine..just depends if you can work quick enough b efore it sets in the bucket....

Keraflex maxi will be fine over night....i have used loads of it....24 hrs to grout on floors and less on walls...14 days is to gain full tensile strength..i,e.UFH etc...

Dave you are being most helpful. One last question - I need to lay Durabase CI down on the concrete bits - it suggest 'thin set mortar' to lay this- can I use the keraquick for this ? Not being a pro- tiler , I'm not sure thin set- mortar is the same as tile adhesive.......

I wasn't planning to. Basically we have added an extension to our kitchen.

Most of the original kitchen is suspended wooden floor - I am putting Nomoreply onto that, then tiling directly onto it. The rest is partly old concrete floor, new concrete floor with embedded wet UFH and new concrete floor with no UFH (don't ask - I have an old house) - on that I was planning to put the Durabase. Do you think I shoudl use the durabase on the nomoreply as well: I was hoping to avoid that ??

From what you've said I'll probably just get a couple of bags of Grey Keraflex to lay the durabase and then just use white Keraflex Max to lay the tiles onto the durabase and the nomoreply.

make sure your nomoreply is well screwed down!i there should be no movement,you can upgrade your S1 grade keraquick to S2 with the latex mix but the keraflex will be nicer for you to use no doubt.as Dave says should be ok the following morning,works same for me but don't get time to use it on floors unfortunately,lol.unless nice marble etc.
