Discuss Kitchen Floor pain!! in the British & UK Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.com.

Have just been to see a kitchen floor that the woman wants tiles layed in, its 9m2 and is plyed out already. She told me she is wanting cable UFH aswell and what would i charge to lay just the tiles, i said id take £300 including addy, grout,Silicon etc which all in the materials equals £75 so really am only taking £225 for laying the tiles (£25 per m2). However if she wanted me to lay the UFH cable then it would be an aditional £80 as it wouldnt take me a whole day to lay but would take about 4 hours or so by the time ive primed etc but all in 2/3 days work. The long and short is that she reconed that was very expensive and is wanting me to talk it over with her husband!!

Am i asking over the odds or is the world gone nuts and wanting everthing for free:furious3:.????

Had a local tile shop call me today and asked if i wanted any work, i said I'm a bit busy for a few weeks, but after that i said i could fit them in...I asked what they pay per metre and they said we only pay day rate and not per metre, its a really good day rate they said...How much i asked, they replied £80 per day, i said double it then i might be interested .:joker: IDIOTS.

i wouldnt worry about it ,i just lost a job to a tiler that undercut me £3000 on a 180sqm job the world is full of busy fools put a value on yourself and dont compromise mate quality sells it self so if you dont get this job there will be plenty others

I quoted a pretty big house a while back, about 120m2, gave a tasty price of 2K and didnt even hear from them again. So if you got undercut by 3K what where you working it out at per m or by dayrate for fiddly work.

the job was for 154 sqm of 60x60 polished porcelain laid diagonally with a emerald pearl granite border cut into 60mm strips out of 450x450 tiles it went in and out of 5 different rooms and was on underfloor heating border was to be cut in 200 from the perimeter of the walls i am the reccommended fixer of the tile supplier and tiled three of their showrooms ,priced it at £32 a metre with £7 a linear m for the border work there is 26sqm around the swimmming pool walls 1200 x600 porcelain the customer said i was far too high and could get it fixed for £22 all in including the border work i think that the tiler has seriously under priced it

I feel sorry for the tiler who has taken this on at that price!!!
He's either really really good at tiling or really really bad at pricing:joker:
