price sounds a little under to my mind (mainly the material outlay) but I hoe you get it along with the follow on work. Just be sure there is follow on work tho'. Some customers do try and suck you in with the promise of more work if you do a good price for the first phase. In reality, the follow on work is imaginary:thumbsup:
i get the promise of more work to follow on too, i give them a discount on the SECOND job (if it comes off) not the first! The £100 for the estimate for the addy seems a bit high tho, on them new flat boards a 6mm trowel should be ok so would use a lot less adhesive:thumbsup:

I bet them 60x60 ceramics will need back buttering. If they don't then you save some money/addy, but if you do then you'll need to buy more out your own pocket so I would still price in the addy

I know the surface will be flat but I still want 100% coverage so will more than likely have to back butter each tile and I was looking at using a 10mm solid bed so I factored that in to my calculations on the addy

good luck from me too, but where i live competition is high and you cant compete price wise against jobbers/cowboys who will cut corners to save money on the price, i.e not board out the floor!:mad2:

Thanks mate, I know what you mean but luckily for me it was the customer who first asked about boarding the floor and he said he was asking for it in each quote.

I have lost out to a fair few cowboys over the last few month but I'm not going down to their level and cutting corners. I either do a good job using the correct materials and methods or no job

thats the only way for me too. ive been mad busy since jan but things quietened off the last couple of weeks. i think its that most people rather spend time/money in the garden this time of year than indoors renovating! i got quite a few jobs coming up, but at the moment im going week by week

Well I Had a call back from my customer tonight, I was the most expensive out of four quotes :yikes:

One of the quotes was for £500 :yikes:

Anyway I was given the job

The customer said he liked me the best and that I knew what I was talking about.

Going to see him tomorrow to sort out a few things as he want's me to start when I already have a job booked in so will have to work it around that

Thanks for your help

Well done Mark, I'm pleased for you.
Just goes to show that the info picked up on here helps us all become even more professional .

I agree, If it wasn't for TF I wouldn't have half the knowledge I have now

It's also good to know when I come across things I'm not sure about I can get the correct answer, fast
