I'm just coming to the end of tiling my kitchen splashback, and am a bit stuck as to how to layout the tiles in the window reveal. See attached pic - i am using 3 different coloured tiles - grey, brown and cream, set in sequence and staggered by one on each row so they run diagonally up.
The window sill is 1 and a half tiles up from the worktop. Do I start the sill off with a full tile at the front against the trim, the next colour in sequence, or should i start with the other half of the cut tile beneath, so it looks like the tile wraps around the sill? (On my course we were told to start with a full tile on the sill and work back so the cut tiles back onto the window frame and are covered by Silicon).
Similarly for the side of the window, do I start the internal vertical with a full tile, the next colour in sequence, or wrap the tile around. Either way I can't see how I can get the internal vertical and horizontal window bits to run smoothly with all colours in sequence, so I'll have to compromise somewhere, but where?!
Sorry if I haven't explained this very well, but hopefully from the pic you will understand what I mean and be able to help
All best

Hi Jimbob,

If it was me I wouuld just start a full tile in from your trim, but that also depends on what size cut you will be left with at the window.
So the first full tile up from the sill will be brown:thumbsup:
The cut wouldn't be big enough to get the 'wrap around' effect:thumbsup:
