I bought a rubber sheet used for yoga etc., from Lidel or Aldi, non slip, roll it up when finished, just the job.

Like that idea, must shop aldis more often.....

Seems there are quite a few ways of going about it then!

I'd be worried about using old dust sheets due to bits of tile and dirty scratching some of the more sensitive (and often expensive) worktops but we used to collect dust sheets (old bedding etc) off all our regular customers on a fairly regular basis so always had a load of fresh ones we'd use for things like this and baths.

I like the idea of the yoga mats too! And the winding up a dust sheet around 2x2 so that you can take it outside to shake it off.

Stair runner dust sheets, folded double or triple. I try and check for scratches before I touch any worktop, and highlight any to customer first!

Had a customer once that had a top end stainless steel worksurface and built-in sink that needed oiling every week apparently. Tiled the kitchen and cleaned the work surface off and it went all misty. Thought oh bugger this aint gonne be cheap. He got in I had my sorry face on and he just got a bottle of spray oil out, sprayed it, wiped it, and it was all shiney again.

You wouldn't believe how long I was trying to bugg it up for.

Never seen such a work surface before or since! Not something I'd have in my home. Not very practical at all.

You use a wet cutter inside bet the customer loves you

Ah i forgot to add i do mainly site work,no customers to annoy,and if the units are protected i usually take the protection off because its a hindrance,like i said never done any damage,so what works for me works for me .

Now if i was doin a kitchen on a domestic job i would have some sort of protection on worktop but would not go as far as covering everything doors etc and my wet cutter would still be inside lol
