I bet you haven't heard this tip before.

I've been bothered more and more with aching knees over the last year and no knee pads solved the problem but I think I have it sorted thanks to a suggestion from my wife. Check your knees for calluses. I had them and they were like lumps and ribs on my knees I was putting all my weight on all day long. I bought a tube of hard skin remover which is a abrasive gel designed for feet. If you use it every second day for a week or so it will rub down the calluses. I've been working the last ten days straight and I have no pain whatsoever whereas before I would have been really suffering.

The only drawback is you have to use it when you know you will leave a week to recover without being on your knees too much as they will be almost raw and it stings when you kneel on them....a lot! I used it before going on holiday so had time to recover.
