Time's Ran Out

Welcome to the Tilers Forum and you'll be pleased you dropped in. The only advice I can give is contact the adhesive manufacturer you intend to use and get a Email for confirmation of their reply. All new skim coat plaster needs at least 3 weeks to cure before tiling, but try telling that to most building contractors, so the ball is back in your court!

HI
If the wall is plastered on render then you can create a mechanical key using a hammer with a pointed end ,a welders hammer or a scutch hammer will do.Then use the hammer to make as many dents that expose the render as is required.
coat the wall with a flexi cement based adhesive and let dry
If you are going to use a notched trowel on large format tiles your wall will have to be perfectly level especially if the design is half bond.
You can use a feather edge and adhesive to skim walls or go the way of the romans and dot and dab,but do it properly paying attention to the corners of each tile

helle, thanks for all your info guys i told the customer he would have to wait at least 2 weeks for the plaster to dry and i would weigh the tiles and see if we were under the 20kg per sqm limit, but he said he wanted it doing straight away and told me not to bother and will get sombody else, ah well. ade.

At least he won't be ringing you to complain about the tiles failing and asking you to fix it
