Hey guy's, i've not been on in a little while, been stupidly busy... Just after some advice, as i'm thinking about getting a laser for help with setting out floors. I've never really bothered with lasers before, but have quite a big floor coming up (an entire ground floor), and want to get the setting out spot on. Any recommendations?

Cheers
Scott

Depends what sort of distance you need to cover mate and what the lighting in the room is like. Trying to use it in a conservatory on a bright sunny day can be a nightmare but on the other hand I've been using it today over a distance of approx. 10 metres no problem. I have seen some cheaper ones somewhere recently but can't remember where, possibly tradetiler, don't know what they are like though. Paid about £160 for mine and personally think it's well worth the money

Be honest I find lasers a pain on the floor, find chalk lines and 3-4-5 just as easy...

I use the laser to set out initially then ping lines on the ground. I find it's an easier way of transferring lines through doorways and round corners etc.

That was my thought on it Pete. I'm hoping, in the long run, it'll save a bit of time.. We live in hope eh? :)

thats the way i do it start with the 1st chalk line then the laser to mark the cross lines ping them and then a 3 4 5 to check the Bosch GTL3 is ideal for this

I've just been using spirit level lately for walls and actually find it quicker! We don't need all these silly tools, yes maybe years ago when you started out they where beneficial to you. Try it. For large floors you won't get any better than chalk line, I'd never trust a laser for any more than 5m and you can hardly see the line in most circumstances.

I do! Lasers make my job a hell of a lot quicker and easier!
