Levelling floor

T

tileform

Hi Guys

I have a porch to do but the floor is running out at an angle

The size is 2.5m x 0.7m and i need to level it to a height of approximately 45mm to suit the step into the house then tile onto it

Can anyone reccommend a low cost flooring compound or similar for me to use up to this height?

Much appreciated

Are you wanting 45mm to zero? or can a new screed be added to the highest point too?
Internal or external?

Here's a guide on how to choose SLC. There are more factors to take into consideration than the thickness you want to pour it to.

Ardex makes some top notch SLCs. Have a look at Ardex.co.uk; they've got their products listed there.

Sir Ramic,

The slope itself is approx 15mm but i need to increase the height of the floor by approx 30mm overall to meet the step, so its going from 30mm to 45mm if that makes sense.

the porch is external too

And what is the step made from at the moment?
If its tiles then hack them off 1st, If its concrete then a sand and cement screed or concrete would be my choice.

the step is down to the bare brick and the porch has a concrete base

would it be cheaper to just screed the porch?

Ardex EB2 Mix would fit the bill. It's a screed which is tileable after just three hours. Frost resistant too, so it's suitable for outdoors use. You'd just need one bag for the job.

One bag??? are you sure?

Ahh one bag plus the added screeding sand .

And some bonding cement for the slurry you put the stuff in, but you don't need much of it at all; one bag of the bonding cement will last approx 9 similar sized surfaces, so you can get paid for that bag a few times.

That's the beauty of Ardex; individual bags and bits might be a bit pricy, but they have better mileage than most other brands. In some extreme cases, the ratio is about 1 to 2.5.

2 bags instead of 4 bags equals good ergonomy, which in turn equals less aches in the long run
