Hi Guys. Doing the dreaded B & Q 600x600 polished porcelain. Will use FZ to polish and seal the tiles. Is it best to do this at start or at the finish? Never done 600's before. I have a tr600 cutter will this work or the wet saw? thanks all

Your dry cutter should cut them no problem, Hard scribe (10mm wheel), then quick snap motion to break tile.

would a hard scribe take the glaze off. Last time i did polished porcelain after scribing wee little bits would ping off the tile

i have been trying loads of different sealers on polished porcelain to establish which one is best here are the results i have had so far
1. fila mp90 i found this sealed the tiles well with out leaving loads of sealer on the surface that had to be buffed off finish looked great no cloudiness rating 8.5 out of 10
2 lithifin fz good sealing but didnt dry into the tile well and had to be buffed off after 20minutes finished looks good but needed elbow grease rating 7 out 10
3. sealguard tile and grout sealer rating 4 out of 10 evaporates as soon as you have got the lid off didnt really impregnate the porcelain needs several coats very expensive
4 ltp polished tile and marble sealer rating 3 out of 10 leaves a film on the tile, tiles looked cloudy after grouting needed to remove with thinners and reseal with mp 90
going to try the hg impregntor on the next polished porcelain job these are my opinions after using these sealers on my work hope this helps

Thanks for input gary. last time i used FZ on a 28sqm floor i had a forearm like popeye when finshed. Mate said you can buy a buffer tool like ones for the car. Dont know if it would work

i used the sealguard on 400x400 polished porc and it was rubbish! Never again!

Gary i find the HG ones leave a tacky finish.......lithofin for me....it is designed for porcelain...not all are......

When you finish trying them all give Aqua Mix a whirl I use it all the time! I seal something or the other every week and I use Aqua Mix for everything. The one exception is I use LTP Antique Wax sometimes and I like Lithofin For slate provided the slate is virtually non porous

I normally use the lithofin for sealing porcelain - recently used the ltp and had horrendous trouble with it - wouldnt soak in - on 78yds of porcelain - never again!
One thing I always do is clean tiles before sealing as there will be a film on them from the factory - I also find the lithofin cleaning range very good too



Also some porcelain is pretty hard to clean, and if its not done right the sealers wont impregnat properly

some porcelains dont need alot of pressure to scribe them - which results in a nice clean break - practice on one piece of porcelain from the job and try different pressures until you find which one gives you the best cut

I've only had a couple of polished porcelain jobs and used the Fila grime remover and Fila Porcelain sealer both times - they seemed to work well and the results were pleasing for me and customers.

As for cutting, I used my Rubi TR-600-S with a 6mm wheel and had perfect cuts everytime. One job was 500 x 500 diagonal set, so cut bed was restrictive but I managed to get the setting out bob on so had no issues. :yes:
