The suppliers of the black and white tumbled marble tiles that I have recently bought recommend that they are sealed after fixing and before grouting with Lithofin MN stainstop. I gather from all that I read that this product is excellent and does the job superbly well. It is however hellishly expensive and I have, in all, about 133 square metres to seal. Is there a credible alternative to this product that is cheaper or should I just bite the bullet and buy it?

I'm a HG fan - I guess it what my local stockist sells although I have used LTP and MN with success too .

The only proviso I would add to the above posts is that HG Marble / Natural Stone sealer is formulated for that product and it is different to the standard Impregnator in the HG range - read the back of both and you'll understand.

Basically you get what you pay for. Stainstop is a premium sealer and premium sealers are expensive.

So would you say that it was worth the extra or not?

I've used all three, but mainly use HG products, the end finish isn't really any different between them, so I would say it's down to cost and whether you like the smell of the spirit based sealers in your house for a good few hours while it goes off. LTP marble sealer that I've used has very little odour.

Ken
