I've finished my first significant tiling job (bathroom in a loft conversion) and I wanted to say thanks to everybody on here who, even though you didn't know it, helped me along the way with your advice for other posters.
Mapei tech support suggested not doing the 2 stage clean up and just wait 15+ mins to clean up and this has resulted in very even shading of the grout.
The only thing I didn't get on with was the corner tape for sealing with mastic. I used my fugi scrapers which gave a much neater finish.
The only thing left to do is to find a shower door that is less than 1810mm high without paying a fortune for a custom made job.
Thanks again - the help you've offered others has really helped me.
Cheers - Kev
- Walls were primed with Mapei Primer G (not PVA!)
- Shower was tanked with Dunlop (bal?) tanking kit from Screwifx (bought before I saw the posts about Mapei's product).
- Used Mapei keraquick and Mapei Ultracolour Plus (beige) grout.
- Holes drilled for pipework using 365 drills (bloody marvellous)
- Special thanks to peckers for the instructions for doing the toilet waste
