Long time gone so looking for advice

Hi everyone:hurray:

Haven`t been around on here for ages and forgotten loads so looking for some advice.

I`m currently having an extension built that will enlarge the bathroom. The new part will create space for a wetroom shower area for which I`m gonna buy a floor former to screw down to the joists. Can`t remember how thick it is but I can then lay whatever flooring is best so that it meets level with the former. I`ve read so many threads about overboarding but what would you suggest if i`m starting from scratch??? It`s an upstairs room so it will be just timber joists.

I would overboard with 25mm plywood and put noggins in between joists.

Thanks Charlie, Was considering that but read that plywood is not so great to tile on so was thinking maybe something along the lines of 18mm ply overboarded with 6mm hardiebacker. Was wondering if there was anything such as a 25mm hardiebacker that I could just screw direct to the joists that would negate the need to overboard?

You want a Level best former( tuffdec) or marmox shower stone both can go straight onto the joists, then use appropriate ply thickness straight onto the joists and nogged at 300mm intervals and then waterproofed as per normal for timber wetrooms..
