you'd be best to shop around for prices of materials a lot on here use tile giant but my nearest is 80 miles away. as for rates it depends on where you live and how much you need to make the business viable. you may have to start off a little lower so as to get your foot on the ladder. it's hard out there at the moment unless you've got some good contacts to start you off. good luck

hi, and welcome to the forum, how much work is there in your area, do you want to do subcontract work for builders or demestic work, its a tuff marget out there and well astablished tilers are struggling, if it was me i would continue what your doing and try to build up a customer base of your own, you can build your own web site free of charge, try a small add in a parish mag, see what comes in, but at least you will still have an income..

All the firms provided materails as far as suppliers goes Topps is main one I know and off late there discounts not been great . It's been long time since I've worked direct for company or public an advice would be great
topps start you off at full trade discount up to 80% off grout and addy from the start if you don't use them mutch the discount goes down think they have 3 stages, go round all your tile shops get a trade account in them all then leave your card with them this way when you price a job you say to customer go to these shops and you can use my discount for your tiles if you win the job i am pretty mutch in the same boat mate its been really quiet the last couple of months but seems to be picking up now. Good luck mate :)
