Were you made redundant and decided on a new career in tiling..?

Maybe like some we have heard of on here...have had a new birth in the family..

Or maybe just that job that was a big pain...lol...etc...

So.. How will you look back on 2009.? and most of all will 2010 be better do you think.?

I have also thought quite a bit about how i will approach 2010..

The sooner 2009 passes the better for me....Best mate died in January, Daughter diagnosed with ME, My brother had a stroke, but he is fine now, and a plumber mate of mine had a heart attack and died at work, a very good friend of mine has just been diagnosed with lung cancer and been told she has two months too live, and some scum bag nicked my Boxer dog a few months ago...Apart from that it was ok.

Hmm, I'm really looking forward to 2010, it already sounds and feel ooomphier than crummy 2009, and I can't even be asked to explain why it was crummy, just glad to leave it behind. Now a big commission going on, my 50!!!! (which is ok when you look and feel younger  :hurray: :smilewinkgrin🙂 birthday on Easter Sunday:hurray:, a half leisure half work/studying trip to Cairo, yessssssssssss!!!!!, blooming brilliant as far as I'm concerned. Recession and all that, well we are still here, it is not the recession that kills, so will just ride with that and hope for things to just work out and be positive. Lots of very serious ill health issues in my family, so hoping they will all just hang on in there.
As to wars and politicians, there is nothing I can do about that at all, so will just keep trying to do my bit in being a decent citizen and good friend to my many good friends. That's it really.

I concur with both of the above there.

I do hope the UK improves in many many ways during 2010.

And I wish the banks would go bloody bump to be honest!

2009 for me started off pretty slow with the tiling work. Then I decided to tile my own bathroom. As soon as the tiles & bathroom suite arrived the phone started ringing for tiling work! The tiles & suite are still in my shed!

We had a new extension to the house. This project was supposed to last 7 weeks. It lasted 6 months.

I did the tiling in the kitchen. Used SLC for the first time. Used UFH for the first time. Tiled modular tiles for the first time.

We did have a really low time in 2009 when our little Daughter was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She is already disabled, and it was just something else to add to her already long list of conditions. All you have to do in those situations is to look forward. There is nothing you can do to change the past.

Nov & Dec was pretty light on the work front. However, I was working on New Years Eve, and I even had a call on New Years eve from a man who wants some tiling done in the new year.

So, to sum up 2009. Not a bad year after all. 2005 was still holds the record as being the worst year ever. I just hope this record is never broken!

The order book for 2010 is looking healthy (got 3 jobs planned). Got a holiday to look forward to. (Taking the kids out of school (to keep the costs down)). Will hopefully get my bathroom tiled before the tiles we bought go out of fashion!

Cheers
Sean
