Magpies eating my expansion joints.

This is a post I never thought I would be typing, about 12 yrs ago I did a balcony using Dural ci mat, taped joints, and Dural pre-formed expansion joints ( this was the best option back then).

A few weeks ago I had a call from the customer saying he had water coming through his car port, underneath the balcony.

I went back today to see what the problem was, I remember using a rubber type black roofing compound gunned in around the perimeter. There was no sign of this today, just moss and grass growing.

The pre-formed expansion joints were also looking poorly, it turns out Magpies have ripped out all the rubber compound and the silicon from the expansion joints, over the years water has found it's way under the floor.

So I have worked for nothing today, Magpies 1 Phil 0.

Could it be somethink in the sealant Phil, I do know that new puttied windows had birds pecking for the linseed in winter to fatten up their bodies to protect them in the cold.

Haha them Magpies - Nowt in the trophy cabinet for years so they go and nick sealant.

I remember one site Mark, were the old linseed oil putty was going missing from the windows, we did some research and found a vet who told us there was a certain type of domestic cat that craved linseed oil, when we asked what kind of cat is that?

The Vet said " a putty cat"
