Making a bath panel to tile with hardibacker

Hi all, our plastic bath panel was cracked so I decided to get rid of it and make a panel that I could tile, now I have secured the bath as much as possible using 2x2 and its solid and I have approx 40mm extrusion from side of the bath to tile onto if you know what I mean (had to bring a lip out as the tiles were all cut to the shape of the last bath panel which was curved). Anyway hardibacker is screwed onto the framework, even left myself the option of an access panel (thanks to another thread here). Question is... The gaps between the hardibacker and the bath (on the lip) should I silicon these? Or grout hardibacker as per instructions and silicon the tile/bath join?

I would use Silicon myself for that.

Just to clarify: silicon seam between hardibacker and bath Or. Silicon seam between tile and bath. Or both. I'm thinking both and grout the rest as normal?? Thanks.

I would Silicon any joints / gaps, belts and braces approach.
