making flat walls

The flatter the wall the quicker the job. So normally would it best to go round at the start and back fill the hollows with undercoat plaster and level off with wet level ? or in small areas use adhesive to achieve this. With llong/large tiles it surely would make things better than taking tiles back off to make flush. ???

I wouldn't use plaster to level off if I was planing to tile withing the next couple of weeks, I'd use some rapidset adhesive, give it a couple of hours and then tile.

Fekin is right. you'd have to have a pretty serious hollow to be thinking about backing plaster and skim

you can't tile onto base coats anyway..so use rapid-set or if realy bad dry line the wall....

If you used rapid set wouldnt you have to prime the walls first? (plastered) If it was a wall you were doing the next day tubbed addy would be dry by then. Its only a skim.?

You are correct, but BAL APD dries in about 15-20 mins and the rapid set dries in a couple of hours. Don't actually know if I would be happy skimming with dispersion addy. Never tried it though!

i wouldn't skim in with tubbed gear either..use rapidset or onecoat...dries much harder and faster....

Whts the prob with base coat? I have filled in holes before with under plaster> i thought it was ok on the walls or is it the ready mix it has probs with? thanks

Thanks for the info dave. Jesus never knew that. So if you have a bonding coat on wall already whats the best thing to do? go over with rapid or get it off wall?

just give it a quick skim with rapid to strenghthen it up...leave to dry ..then prime ...ready for tiling....
