Mapei bad bag or just not like BAL

100mm x 300mm wall tiles onto hardibacker.

The check on my mix is a good idea.

I am going to ask a noob question, I will buy a new bag of BAL spf tomorrow, but does a bag that has been subject to frost/moisture make that much difference to its adhesion.

Sorry to digress a little but why would a DIY'er get a trade account? No offence to jgw but trade accounts are for traders like us. I used to use a shop in Nantwich and when I found out that they would supply Joe public at the same price as me I just took my business elsewhere. Its hard enough keeping busy but we rely on the little profit we make by supplying materials to customers, we use it as a bargaining chip to get work. Macro supply the trade, the public cannot use them. I have an account at a builders yard, the public do not get my prices, I have tested to make sure.
We get discounts from the sponsors because they want our business, they want repeat business and we give it to them, the public dont.

As for the adhesive problem it will be caused by damp or moisture, it starts to go off the way it should when moisture comes into contact with it.

That is, as you said, going a bit off topic -I would like to keep the discussion to the thread in hand to help me understand what has happend.

Without trying to put words into other posters keyboards, I think they were just trying to look out for me.

You might have stored the adhesive ok in your hallway...but you cannot know how it was stored before you purchased it....best bet is to replace it..

If you are more familar with the mixing of BAL products, then use BAL...

I use mapei day in day out and have no probs...so this error was probs down to something out of your control prior to purchase..
