Mapei Silicon

Is it just me or is this stuff a complete nightmare to smooth off, its like chewing gum.

Anyone recommend any other silicones, coloured that are easier to apply?

What method are you using to smooth it? Tool/finger etc.

Hi Fred, never had a problem with it, here my method: apply it to bone dry joint, then spray with water/washing up liquid concauction (about 1:10) profile with pre lubricated profile tool within 1 minute of applacation. Allways work from the bottom upwards! Good luck mate

It is one of the better silicones. Try warming the tubes up, aswell as the above advice. ie in front of a heat lamp for a min or two, or a fan heater.

Are your tubes expired?

I just wet my finger, but after the first line found my finger was repelling water. So you actually spray the Silicon then smooth it?

my favourite Silicon Freed, know what you mesn tho have to be quick with it no playing about mate.
Looks good and mould free for years

Probably the best Silicon you will use.

Used Mapei Jasmine today on an en-suite without a problem, 4 internals & join between wall & floors & shower.

Use a spray bottle & a Silicon tool.

My finger loves mapesil, all i do is wet my finger and get at it quick.
It turns out lovely and glossy.
Without doubt my favorite one and i always carry plenty of it.
I currently have 6 jasmine,1 black, 1 grey, 2 white and 3 beige2000.:lol:
I was using some today so had to see what i had.

I only use Mapei Silicon or Dow Corning. Apply, dip finger into a mixture of washing up liquid and water (to give a nice greasy mix) then smooth off. Excellent results every time .

Only thing i would say is, "Dont rub it into your eye".

Not very good for your sight.

Done it today then had to go & get my passport photos done. a re shoot will be in order. :lol:
