I used to have that problem but a Silicon tool sorts that out now.

and allways use 1" masking tape, gives perfect line (no mess)

Think I might have to try Silicon tool, I use my fingers on others haven't had a problem.

As already mentioned, some silicones need heating up a little, I have hair dryer in the van for this.

I have one of the rubi Silicon profilers. Anyone got a preference though? The b&q ones are completely different but never tried it.

caulk is a worse taste and sticks to the fingers more when smoothing. i usually try find a cup of soapy water to use instead of licking my finger

Don't use WonderWipes to get it off your lips, you end up looking like you had botox

the washing up liquid trick i might try, i hate siliconing always end up in a right 2 and 8 oh and i use the bal stuff

Using spit norm sends it black ,all the bacteria in your mouth is forced into the Silicon starting mold .
