Marble mosaic for outside

Hi,
I'm making a mosaic panel (copy of a Roman mosaic) to go into a garden.
It will be part of a feature so won't be walked on.
This is being made as a fragment approximately 700mm x 500mm, made up of 10mm cubes, marble/limestone. The panel is set on mesh. It will be sealed.

The question is: what board can I set it on so it can be left out throughoutthe year? Is Aquapanel exterior good enough?

hi recomend using 19mm cement sheet or concrete as thin board on its own will twist or buckel:8:

I'd go for 12mmWediboard, or Aluminium honeycomb board if you can. Sounds nice!

Id go for the wedi panel aswell, although if the edges are to be exposed hardibacker would be a better option

Hardi do not recommend thier board is used outside...

DAVE - Hardie - I stacked 20 sheets 'on end' outside a month ago and covered.

Went to use 3 for a job yesterday and found they had bent a little!

So although you can emerse it in water for years its not suitable for outside.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'd love to use the Aluminium honeycomb ( I presume you're talking about Hexlite) but at £300 for a 8' X 4' sheet it might work out too expensive.

hi :hurray: Musivarius apart from tile backer you could also render/screed your panal with ardex EB2 cement/screed or ardex AM100 render and fix mosaic to this
