Discuss Marine ply to tile in the Australia Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.com.

My customer boarded over pipes with ply. I thought it was ordinary ply but it turned out to be marine ply so the tiles didn't stick! They don't want to replace it with tile backer board and think some type of mastic will work. What do you think? :huh2:K
Also the board has movement in it because there are not enough noggins in the frame to make it solid!

If its not constructed right then chances are your just going to get more problems with it....
Seems to be a few post floating around with a few of using Silicon as an adhesive can't say its something I've tried before. .
My advice would be to redo the boxing in ...making it solid and useing plaster board or cement board to cover it..
Do it right and you shouldn't have to do it again. .
