mastic coated concrete floor.

I have just removed some thermo plastic tiles from a kitchen floor-leaving a black mastic coating-what are the alternatives to proceed tiling with a porcelain tile.should I overboard with aqua board-or try to remove the mastic ? and how.

Sounds like the good old bitumen used to stick the Marley tiles to the floor. I would recommend you use a slurry coat over the bitumen then tile away or self level before tiling if required. Type "slurry" into the search box to find specific posts on this issue
