Maxflex white

Hi all,
Anyone used maxflex white?

Job: Thinnish mosaic ( though I havent actually seen it ) , Ply overlay on floorboards .

I'm a fastflex man when it comes to timber , however my brain is telling me fastflex isnt going to trowel well using a 3mm/4mm mosaic trowel.

I've had a look at the maxflex spec , but I'd rather know from someone whose used it .

Yes , as i understand it , it is the replacement for mosaic fix.

Indeed it is the replacement for Mosaic Fix. I've not used the new one but Mosaic Fix is excellent, if a bit pricey.

think you will find the new version is alot more expensive still.
we used it few weeks ago but only because i was told that it has greater grab and we were fixing 10 x 10 x 10 mosaics to a vaulted ceiling.
in normal circumstance original mosaic fix is as good as you can get.
in fact i bought a few extra bags of mosaic fix from topps as it was markedly reduced with new product in and getting rid of stock.
i should add that i would never go to topps unless i was desperate for something and they were the only supplier near where i was working.

I think the new one has got fibres in it. They've done the same to Whitestar.

Just for info , BAL said that on a single layer overlay they only recommend Fastflex.

Maxflex will be fine on overlay. Typical BAL overspec everything!
It isn't too pricey from CTD. Forget Topps they are in a dream world with trade pricing.
The original MosaicFix was the best spf bar none. The new one just has even better grab now but you have to mix it up very stiff.

I would still use fastflex on a timber floor, and if your using a light coloured grout you can get it in white..

Deffo using white fastflex, Bal specced a solid bed trowel min 3mm bed. Trouble is the mosaic is only 5mm thick! , plenty squeeze thru there me thinks. Anyway , told them to go for something thicker like a stine mosiac, I can use a decent size trowel then.
