You are right to turn job down. It seems there is no regulation about what glue /resin used on back of stone.thrre have been some serious failures.apparently it is the duty of the stone supplier to spec an adhesive for any resin backed stone they sell
I'd assume they're cheaper and they can make a few quid more.
Tilers need to just point blank refuse to fit them. Or recommend the customers swaps tiles. Or something.
How are other countries dealing with this problem?
Or are the manufacturers just shipping all to us?
