I tend to have certain grouts for certain scenarios. Bal microflex when I want a white wall grout, Benferflex off white for natural stone and cream coloured tiles, Mapei ultracolour for anthracite, black, brown floor grouting, Jasmine Kerapoxy for stone, NC starlike epoxy for white, Ardex MG for white marble, etc. The only one I still have not got a favourite for when is grey grouting.

Problem is Kev, it's meant to be a grout suitable for all scenarios, it wouldn't be possible to use it on a riven slate.

Hi Bri. My experience of riven slate x2 with the original Micromax was quite the opposite. I was dreading using it, but it was the colour the customer chose so I used it....one of my easier grout clean up's. Even using the new formula on 500mm x 300mm glazed tiles it wasn't a hard job. More down to the tile type,glaze and ambient temp possibly????

It has crossed my mind but, it's adding another process that shouldn't be necessary IMO.

But it is Bri... when leaving a modified grout to firm up , i regularly use them to loosen the surface first.. try it..

Tried pre sealing, emulsifying pads, scrubbing brush and sponges. Looked mint when wet but as soon as grout dried looked bad. Changed grout to Tilemaster...still hard but job done. No point making the job harder and more expensive.
Thats the problem with clients supplying materials.

I have used that method before Dave when I've been caught out!but never needed to otherwise.. it does work though

I've been using UCP quite a bit recently (and we both know what my opinion of that used to be :lol, and that is a far more user friendly grout to use, no need for emulsifying if cleaning times are adhered to,yes it sets a bit too quickly for my liking but, it's a far superior product to MM2. Now I bet you never thought you'd hear those words from me :lol:

I've just used micromax 2 for the first time, was scared away from 1. Used it on a textured porcelain in the heat we're having I thought it was fine. The best all in one grout I've ever used.

I was supplied it for some split slate porcelain tiles,,,,OMG nightmare....Hate the stuff on riven finish. On smooth tiles its ok.

Agree it's fine on the glossy tiles , Been using loads of it Lately find if you mix as directed it's a nightmare to use to stiff
