Micromax2 Charcoal!

Hi everyone,

Happy new year! Over Christmas I decided to tile my own kitchen floor, I thought I'd use Micromax2 Charcoal as it looked like a good colour to go with, be warned friends this stuff is evil, mix soot and oil and try and work with that, my hands are stained I have ruined about 8 sponges and a grout float. Not to mention the complete mess it has made of my kitchen. Anybody else ever used it? Thank god I didn't use it on a client's job first

If anyone decides to use black , anthracite or charcoal grouts factor in that you will need to dispose a float and sponges ...unless you put them in a bag for the next time. .......Oh and gloves everytime with an elastic band around the cuffs and yo will still have black hands.:mad2:

ive used very dark grey on my float before managed to get it cleaned up sound. its still the one I use now shows how much tiling i have managed to get done over the last few months lol

I have to say of all the black grouts I've used, MM2 is probably the easiest in terms of clean-up and the blackest when dry.
ALL black grouts will stain whatever they touch - they wouldn't work if they didn't!
Charcoal and black grouts incur a minimum £25 extra charge on my quotes to at least cover the cost of sponges and floats being chucked away afterwards.

£50 upwards for me. I hate the stuff but I'd is what they want is what they will get

I've got 4 black grout floats in the garage now.... and one for every thing else. (Why do I always forget to pack a black grout float when I leave home for a black grouting job??? Its an age thing :stupid

Now it's all cleaned up it looks sweet, have all my black kit safely stored for the next job :hurray: Thanks for all the posts, cheers
