mistakes

hi guys....

imade a right **** up today,my boss helped set me out on a shower,3 walls with a boarder along the middle.everything sounded straight forward and left me to it.got to the last wall put the first 3 rows in all level, carryed on then got to the last row along the celling none of the joints marryed up plus i didnt level the top part of the trim,my bosses mate come back and tour me a new one..(hit the roof)i tryed to tell him im still learning and that mistakes are made,and spent most of the afternoon putting it right,so put it right then he left taking all tiles and the boarders,as i was grouting i noticed a chip on the boarder right were the shower goes in,i know my boss knows about it cause his mate went back to his house,proberly trying to get me the sack any advise for me would be great for tuesday..thanks

Well who showed you what to do and left you their on your own to make the mistake ? Well have a word with them remind them that if you were that good you would be working for yourself I sways take responsibility for every thing my guys do even when they make mistakes which even the most experience ones still do and myself included but I have only been tiling for 30 years now

Mistakes aren't always bad things in that I think of them as lessons. Make sure you're aware of where you went wrong and how you'll avoid it in the future.Your boss will have cooled off by Tuesday so as long as you don't get cocky you should be fine.

Sounds like you were left on your own too early there, maybe tell your boss that you are really sorry, you learnt heaps from it and how much you appreciate when he sticks around to help you along still? And all that Sandy said..

I'm responsible for all the mistakes my apprentice makes the first time round, but if he doesn't learn from it and makes the same one again, then I do give him a rollicking, but an apprentice is only as good as the Master Craftsman that is teaching him/her. Tell the boss how you feel about it and also that your not happy with the guy trying to get you paid off!

thanks for advise,its was put right in the end,but he may not see it like that.i think he need to hear my side of the job not his mate,who i think wanted a early finish and when he saw what i did proberly didnt help

its friday night, get yourself down the pub with the lads and chase the skirt ;0) grumpy bosses are all part and parcel of the game. the problem is, half of them cant train to save their lives. most of your answers will be answered on here so dont worry and dont let the barstewards get you down mate..

i used to work for the boss from hell but if we made a mistake/**** up he would just tell us to sort it out. if we didn't then we'd get the rollicking. it's all a learning curve, don't stress out and have a good wknd
