Hi guys has anybody used 1 or had ago with 1? My rubi ts50 is getting a little ropey and just been looking about for a replacement! I will probably end up just getting another ts50, but just wondered if anybody can shed any light on the montolit before i commit myself to anything cheers!

Re: montolit???????????????

I have got a minipuima it seems good but i would sooner use a rubi i cant get used to the single rail

Re: montolit???????????????

Single rail cutters don't bend when force is applied to them. Only thing to get used to is not being able to see the wheel when you score. Once you get used to where you need to line up your marks in relation to the rail it is very easy. Also, with the Monty, you can set the depth of the tile with an adjuster to reduce the possiblity of crushing the tile when you snap. If the tile is very hard, you can hit the arm with a mallet/hammer to shock the tile for breaking. Couldn't be without mine now!!

Re: montolit???????????????

I have decided to go for Monti after months of debate. Used Rubi and they are good, used sigma once on a mosaic job but the monti really stood out for me cutting the bigger stuff

Re: montolit???????????????

I picked up my monti yesterday and spent half an hour chopping a few different porcelain off cuts and I thought it was great. Was breaking 600 x 300 with ease and a really nice cut. No chipping of the edges and a really smooth finish. Just had to play around a bit with pressure of the scoring wheel and I found the lighter I had it the better the cut almost.

Really really impressed and a greta investment

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Got to say that Kiwksplit were great, let me have a play for half hour before I bought, made me a cuppa and chucked in a few little freebeees. Highly recommend them.

i've got the Mini and the 63-P2, it took only a short time to get used to the single rail and pressure but won't change either now.:hurray:

I'm now the proud owner of the Monti Minipuma 43 and mosaic mat, ordered it last night from TT and it was sitting in the hall when I got in this afternoon.
Won't be using it untill next week though When i'll have mosaics to do. Looks good.

I love my Rubies, but prefer the way the montolit can snap further down the tile for diagonal tiling, and its wicked arm/setsquare thingie

Hi folks yes the monti ive got its far superior to other cutters ive used, and for the larger formats ive got a diamond 3 now rebranded as rodai its the 1200mm its fantastic:welcome:

I just used my Montolit masterpuima 750mm today.. what a machine..:thumbsup:
Dave , well done for making the move , its a fantastic cutter and my favourite one to use , versatile , fast and easy cutting and i love the tile gauge which lifts and returns , the drop down cutter comes in very handy too, what made you get one i thought you were a rubi man ??

It was down to space in the van.. i was getting a bit sick of carrying 3 cutters and seen as 90 odd% of my work is stone, i thought maybe it would be wise to get a light weight cutter that will suit all tile sizes i might come across but be light and easy to store and use..

I still like rubi cutters, it's just down to what i need at present.
